Catfish, Silurus glanis, released in Helge å
A catfish, over one meter in length, was caught by in the Baltic Sea by an eel fisherman. Since the catfish is an endangered species with special programs for protection, the National Board of Fisheries was contacted and they suggested to release the catfish in Helge å to increase the genetic multitude of the Vattenrike population.

The catfish was reintroduced in Vattenrike 1999 after they had died out because of pollition in the sixties. The restocking of catfish is one of several environmental projects in Vattenrike receiving aid from the WWF.
